Offsite Retail Sales Coordinator
Job Purpose:
The Offsite Retail Sales Coordinator of Thames River Melons ensures the highest level of service is provided to both employees and customers for all off-site retail sales farmers’ markets, pop-up markets, and home delivery (Market Box program). This role offers opportunities to try new things as well as incorporate your own skills, interests, and goals.
Responsibilities:
Oversee operations for markets, pop-ups, and Market Box deliveries, including inventory, harvest/pack totals, and delivery routes
Coordinate with Wholesale and Barn Coordinator for inventory management
Manage weekly communications: engage with staff, market organizers, and customers through emails, newsletters, and updates
Provide on-the-job training, assess displays/deliveries, and offer feedback to staff
Travel to markets and delivery locations as needed to support staff and gain hands-on experience
Ensure consistent pricing and seamless operations across locations
Contribute to content creation to share at farmers’ markets, subscriber engagement, and subscriber growth
Participate in market and delivery debriefs, review notes, and provide insights for improved performance
Analyze weekly sales data and compare performance to previous weeks and seasons
Maintain and update the online store, subscription listings, and add-ons for Market Box deliveries
Manage inventory for market supplies, delivery materials, and staff uniforms
Plan and execute seasonal tasks, such as market applications, delivery processes, market box processes, wholesale account preparation, and website updates
Collaborate on future initiatives, including online ordering programs, corporate partnerships, and custom-order options
Schedule:
Flexible schedule, typically Tuesday-Saturday (including most Saturdays May–October)
Saturdays are the primary day for farmers’ markets, so they are very important!
Winter months: Option to shift to Monday-Friday and adjust for flexible scheduling
Reporting:
This role will be independent but requires weekly (at least) meetings with supervisors and other upper management employees. Support and guidance are readily available.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
3+ years of experience in project management, administration, sales, or a related field
Post-secondary education in project management, sales, or a similar discipline is an asset
Proven leadership skills, with experience managing staff and overseeing projects
Familiarity with farmers’ markets and sales is preferred
A passion for local farming and produce is a strong advantage
Proficiency in email, phone communication, social media, scheduling software, Point of Sale systems, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
Experience with Excel or Google Sheets is a valuable asset
Results-driven, with a demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, develop actionable plans, and achieve goals
Strong multitasking and time-management abilities, with a knack for problem-solving and quick decision-making.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to connect empathetically with both staff and customers
Location & Working Conditions:
On site at Thames River Melons, 765875 Township Road 5, Innerkip ON
Travel is required; having access to your own vehicle is required
As a seasonal business, there are opportunities to engage in various aspects of farm operations during both peak and off seasons. Flexibility and adaptability to these changing work arrangements are essential.
Hours: Full time – 35 – 40 hours/week
